The conversation

That moment when your mind jumps straight to the worst possible scenario? That's probably fear talking, not intuition. Gili looks at fear and love as two opposing forces, like a north pole and a south pole, shaping our thoughts and our feelings all the time. The way she sees it, most people run on fear without noticing: fear of failing, fear of letting someone down, and, deepest of all, the fear of not being good enough. She shows that even in the hardest moment, you can still choose to act out of love instead of fear.

The truth

  • The way Gili sees it, fear and love are the two opposing forces in the universe, like a north pole and a south pole, and every other emotion sits somewhere on the scale between them.

  • Most people run on fear without noticing: fear of failing, fear of letting other people down, and, deepest of all, the fear of not being good enough.

  • In our essence we are love, and that is also what connects us to the divine.

  • Jewish identity is there whether you want it or not, so it's better to act from it with the power of love than to deny it out of fear.

  • The phrase "do not fear" comes back again and again in Scripture, because the thing you are most afraid of is the thing that tends to happen.

Questions and answers

What's the opposite of fear, and why does it matter so much?

The opposite of fear is love. The moment you understand that, you understand that you have to act out of love and not out of fear if you want to create a different reality, even when reality itself looks frightening. This is the move from the old world, which ran on fear, to the new world, where the evolution of humanity is asking us to act out of love even when there's hardship staring us in the face.

How do we get past the uncertainty and the fear we're living with right now?

The way to get past the fear is connection, connecting to the Creator, or to any higher power you're more comfortable calling by another name, like Father Sky or Mother Earth. It's also important to remember that moving forward doesn't happen through struggle. It happens through surrendering to what is happening in your life and to the way things look, and going on from there.

What are Gili's three laws about thought, fear and love?

The first law is that thought creates reality. The second law is that fear attracts energy like itself. The third law is that love is the thing that never changes, the Source that everything flows from. Understanding these three laws is supposed to change the way we behave day to day.

What do you actually do when you want to choose to live a reality that is love, even when everything around you is collapsing?

The tip is to take a physical sheet of paper, not your phone and not your computer, and write on it in the present tense everything you want to create in your life, as if it has already happened. For example: "I have every source of abundance, my relationships are healthy, my home is amazing." Make sure you read these things every day and let them move you.

Gili's original episode description

This episode is about the ancient battle between love and fear.

Gili and Tal explore the ways fear and love shape our lives, and how you can handle the inner struggle between the two poles.

They talk about how fear can control us and hold us back, but also about the freeing, healing power of love, and they stress how important it is to live a life that comes from love and not from fear.

Along the way they invite listeners to become more aware of their thoughts and their feelings, to strengthen their faith and to grow from the understanding that only love can defeat fear.

In Gili's tips corner you'll get practical tools for dealing with your fears and for strengthening your ability to love, both yourself and other people.

Only love will win!
