The conversation

Your birth date is fixed and can't be changed, but the way Gili Man Wolner sees it, far more is hidden inside it than it seems: the difficulties that will follow you, the repairs you came here to make, and even the general melody of your life. The birthday itself is the gift you received from the Creator, and everyone has to find it and pass it on, while the month you were born in is a kind of covering that makes it harder to bring that gift out. It's worth remembering: numerology is a tool for diagnosis and not for treatment. It helps you understand where you are. It doesn't solve it for you.

The truth

  • The birth date is fixed and can't be changed, and from the moment the baby is born you can already read in it the difficulties they'll face, the repairs they came to make and even the general melody of their life.

  • A soul coming into the world needs a name before it can receive a *nefesh*. Gili illustrates it with the image of a pen that nobody calls by a name: without a word pointing to it, it has no identity.

  • According to Kabbalah the whole world was created out of the letters, and the energy centers in the body are activated through them and through numbers, and that's where the deep connection between numerology and Judaism comes from.

  • The birth date doesn't speak only about the baby. It speaks about the fate of the parents and of the whole family from the moment the baby comes into their lives.

  • The birthday itself is the gift each person received from the Creator, and every person has to find it and pass it on.

  • Numerology is a diagnostic tool and not a treatment tool. Some people come to a numerology session as a birthday present, because it simply helps you understand where a person is.

Questions and answers

What does numerology have to do with Judaism in the first place?

Numerology in its essence is connected to the teaching of Kabbalah, which is based on the letters. According to Kabbalah the whole world was created out of the letters, and through a person's birth date and name you can see a great deal about the soul and about the course of its life.

Is numerology a treatment tool?

No. The episode stresses that this is a diagnostic tool only and not a treatment tool. It lets you see where a person is, what they're dealing with and what their strengths are, and that makes the road to a solution easier.

What's the difference between the day I was born and the month I was born in?

The birthday is the gift and the light the person received from the Creator, and the birth month is a kind of covering over that light. It weighs on you and makes it harder to bring the gift out. It isn't the repair itself.

What's special about someone born on the 11th of the month?

Someone born on the 11th gets unusually high self-confidence, because it's made up of two ones, which is a masculine and powerful energy. On top of that, these people have a natural healing power in the palms of their hands.

I was born on the third. Does that have anything to do with how hard it is for me to make deep friendships?

Not necessarily. For all the luck and success that characterize a person born on the third, the episode notes that they tend to be a pleasant acquaintance rather than a really close friend.

Does every number have less good sides too?

Yes. The episode stresses that every birth-day number has a light side and a dark side, not only positive qualities.

Gili's original episode description

And now a little about the episode itself:

This time, Gili and Tal talk about the fascinating world of Kabbalistic numerology, with the focus on one of the most important days of our lives: the birthday.

There's no doubt that our birthday is a day that marks our beginning in this world.

But what else can we learn from that date?

Does it have other meanings we don't know about?
