The conversation

Some years just flow, and some years feel like a constant struggle without your understanding why. According to Gili, every year has its own energy, exactly the way the chakras in the body do, and you can work out exactly which year you're in from your birthday and the current year. Once you know the number, you can stop fighting and start flowing with whatever the year brings, even if its subject wasn't your choice. The way Gili sees it, even when it feels like you chose it yourself, the subject is fixed and known in advance. Most people simply aren't aware of it.

The truth

  • How the calculation works: you reduce the day and month of your birth to a single number, add it to the current year reduced the same way, and go on until you get a number between 1 and 9.

  • Every year has its own energy, exactly like the chakras in the body, and the number of the year reveals which subject is on the table.

  • The calculation: reduce the birth day and month to one digit, add the current year reduced the same way, and keep reducing until you get a number between 1 and 9. For example, someone born on June 18 gets a personal year of four in 2023.

  • There are two accepted methods of calculation, from the last birthday until now, or by the full calendar year, and Gili jokingly compares that to the House of Hillel and the House of Shammai: both are legitimate.

  • People born between November and January sync up most naturally with the calendar year, but everyone starts feeling the new energy from December, no matter when their birthday actually falls.

  • Even when it feels like you chose the subject of the year yourself, it is in fact fixed and known in advance. Most people simply aren't aware of it.

Questions and answers

What is a personal year in numerology?

Every year has its own energy, similar to the chakras in the body. The number of the year marks the subject the person is occupied with in that period. Anyone who is aware of their personal year understands what opportunity is opening up for them and what energy can push them forward, even if the subject wasn't chosen consciously but is known in advance and imposed on them.

Is the personal year counted from the person's birthday, or do you calculate it from December to December?

There are two accepted methods: one takes the birth day and month and adds them to the current year, and the other adds them to the calendar year in which the last birthday fell. Gili compares this to the House of Hillel and the House of Shammai: both approaches are valid. People born from November to January have it easier, because the two years almost sync up, and anyone who needs it exact is welcome to reach out to her privately.

Some kind of ego comes up in me, a feeling that I alone am responsible for my success. How do you heal that within a year, and why does it have to start back in December and not near my birthday?

The healing is actually to ask for help, and specifically from the people who are competing with you, because there's no greater humiliation for the ego than that. And that's exactly where the reward comes from. It's the point that balances the masculine, goal-focused energy that characterizes a personal year one.
